You most likely know what Pinterest is. There are a lot of people that use the social media platform, and by a lot, I mean over one hundred million people. You read that right, one hundred million. You want to reach out to a lot of people and get your business in front of them? Why on earth aren’t you on Pinterest?!
Some people think that it’s just for girls. Wrong!
Many men use Pinterest for a variety of thing from DIY projects, to meal finding and outdoor work. It has everything on it, so anyone can use it to find just about anything they need.
Other think that it’s just for people who like to look at food or décor and craft ideas. Nope!
Pinterest has categories like fashion, art, business, food, sports, gardening, cars, and much much more!
If there is something that you are looking for, there is a good chance you can find it there!
But you’ll pin it and never come back to it! Not true!
Sure, you can have a lot of pins, but those using their boards correctly and categorizing them, will be able to come back and find that exact pin that they were looking for.
Let’s talk business.
Why should you be using Pinterest?
Well for one, as I stated above, there are over one hundred million users, that alone should get you motivated to start using it no matter what your business is.
You can target ads to people who are looking for certain things. For example, someone is looking for business blogs. Guess what? You have a blog that deals with running a business, tips and tricks, etc. You can no target those people to get your pins right in front of them! Score!
Actively using Pinterest will grow your following. Each and every pin that gets “pinned” to a board comes along with a link to a blog. Every time someone repins your pin, your blog link is being shared.
Overall, Pinterest is a way to get in front of people that you might not otherwise be reaching on your other platforms.
Keep a few things in mind:
- You want to make your caption something that makes a person want to click on your link.
- Make “pinnable” images that are vertical and easy to read and understand without even looking at the link or the site.
- Keep track of your pins and see what ones are doing the best and see what you can do to make other preform just as well as your best.
