Below we will go through each of the steps in the video and you will be able to get the URL’s for the tools you will need to be able to add your own Periscope button to your Facebook Page and Website.
How to get your Periscope Button Code
To get your Periscope Button On Air Button Code you need to go to Periscope Embed.
Here you will have the choice to pick a small or large button.
Enter your Periscope Username and the size of the button you would like then click Create Button.
You will then be taken to a preview of the button (which you can test to make sure it is actually connected to your Periscope account) click copy and this is the code you will use for placing the button on your website and Facebook Page.
Add Periscope Button To Your Website
You can add your Periscope button where ever you would like it. You may choose the sidebar (see image to the left) or even in a blog post (see below)
In WordPress you will need to go into your back end – Appearance – Widgets.
Here you will need to select a text widget and paste the Periscope button into the widget and press save.
You will now be able to see your Periscope button in your widget section (where ever you have chosen to place it).
Don’t forget to test it, to make sure there are no issues.
Facebook Page Periscope Tab
To set up your Facebook Page Periscope Tab you will need to be logged into Facebook.
You will need to go to Static HTML: iframe tabs and click “Add Static HTML to a page”.
You will be prompted to select the Facebook Page you would like to add the Static HTML: iframe tab to. Select the correct page then click “Add Page Tab”.
You will then be redirected to your page which now has a Welcome Tab. Press the green “Set Up Tab”.
Remove the text from the index.html section and paste your text you received from the Periscope Button generator.
Press Save & Publish you will now have a Facebook Page Periscope Tab.
If you are comfortable with HTML or comfortable in WordPress (then copying the HTML text from the text tab you can design the page however you want as per my example above.
To change the Tab name and Image – go to your Facebook Page – Settings – Apps – Edit Setting hyperlink (under the Static HTML: iframes Tab app). A pop up will appear you can now change enter the name you would like to use on the tab and press save. Then change the image but clicking “change” on the Custom Tab Image section of the pop up – you will need a graphic 111px x 74px (I use Canva to set mine up using a screenshot of my periscope button. best to get this set up prior to starting to add your Facebook Page Periscope Tab (just so you don’t forget). Once you have set up both sections click OK and go back to your Facebook Page. You should now be able to see the new Tab you have created.
Test the tab to ensure it is working.
